SESSION ALES BEER DINNER

Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 7:00PM

ROUND BARN BREWERY & PUBLIC HOUSE
9151 First St.
Baroda, MI 49101

The session ale dates back to two ideas. The first takes us to WWI-era England where workers were actually allowed to drink on the job, even in weapons manufacturing—yikes! Workers were allowed two drinking periods, or “sessions,” each day—one at lunch and then one after hours. The low ABV in these ales made it so employers could prevent their workers from getting too drunk while also not angering them with pint limitations. The other idea comes from a more casual point of view with people wanting to drink a flavorful brew while also enjoying a long stay at their local bar.

Whether you enjoy a low ABV beer or a flavorful one, our first beer dinner of the season will have you reaching for that extra pint! Join us for four courses inspired by the history of the session ale while incorporating local, in-season ingredients paired with four session-inspired brews. Put down the lawnmower beer and get your tickets now!

MENU

Prohibition Lager
TBD ABV • 33 IBU • 3 SRM
This historical style was largely discontinued during Prohibition 1920-1933, and is one of the first American recipes, utilizing 6-Row barley malt and flaked maize, MI Willamette hops, and American Lager yeast to create a distinct flavor. This beer is clean with a subtle sweetness and pleasantly hoppy for a balanced lager.

“Lobsta” roll on a buttered brioche bun with Hollywood Farms corn salad.

Lake Michigan Light
4% ABV • 11 IBU • 5 SRM
This blonde ale is light-bodied and crisp with a soft wheat character. The finish is subtle and dry, with a slight note of citrus.

Graham cracker and cardamom-crusted fried calamari with Thai mango salad.

•   •   •

Baroda Sessions
4.9% ABV • 33 IBU • 8 SRM
A medium-bodied beer with notes of biscuit. The Big C American hops offer a balanced blend of herbal and citrus flavors, and plenty of hop aroma from the late additions.

~ paired with ~

Blackened ahi tuna taco with avocado, pickled red onion, and grapefruit-cilantro salsa.

•   •   •

Malted Milk Ball Porter
TBD ABV • 24 IBU • 33 SRM
A classic British porter inspired by malted milk balls, we brewed a session beer with plenty of oat malt for texture, and honey malt for sweetness, while also adding malted chocolate to the whirlpool. This beer is very sweet and rich, with a full chocolate flavor.

~ paired with ~

Chocolate espresso bars with Palazzolo’s malted vanilla gelato and porter caramel.
